The BaHa Brothers band was born in 1992, when friends and bandmates Jay Gonsalves, Bill Strojny, and Matt Wasylow decided there was a need for a beach party, “happy hour” type band in the Cape Cod and Boston areas. A band that would be most at home playing a cocktail hour on the deck of a Cape Cod beach bar or a “booze cruise” out of Boston Harbor. This trio honed their craft together for several months before – after much badgering – coaxing a retired sax player by the name of Pete Hebert to come out and join the fun.
When Pete joined, the lineup was solidified for many years to come. Over the years, drummer John Correia was added to fill a much-needed percussion void, while Steve Macomber replaced friend and bandmate Matt on guitar, who left to pursue other interests.
Polishing the act to incorporate the summer mentality of Jimmy Buffett and his band of followers – The Parrotheads – The BaHa Brothers became tremendously successful, opening for Jimmy Buffett at the former Great Woods concert venue and playing fairs, casinos, big events, and bars all over the country. One of those bars was (and still is) Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Cafe in Key West, FL. The band has also appeared on regional and national television, performing on Fox 25 Boston Zip Trip and ESPN’s Cold Pizza. The BaHa Brothers have played in Key West for many years, frequenting the Duval Street venues that have made it a national landmark! Over and over, the guys would say, “If we had a place up North, we’d do it like this!” Good friend John Decker and BaHa Brothers road manager, Joe O’Connell agreed, and signed on as a partner to help create “The Vision!”
The vision became a reality. The BaHa Brothers’ Sandbar Grill is the Northeast’s premier restaurant and pub, born from everything that is Key West!
From excellent food to the best local, regional, and national entertainment, you’ll feel like you just stepped into a Duval Street eatery; without the long flight, drive, or tourist prices! The BaHa Brothers welcome you to have a cool drink and enjoy some great food, while relaxing and listening to the area’s best live music. Welcome to the Sandbar Grill…a little bit of Key West, BaHa style!
